This week we have the second part of the story about Ruth.

Opening prayer

Sign for “thank you”:

Dear God
Thank you for the sunshine.
Thank you for each other.
Thank you for your stories in the Bible and for all they teach us.

The Story of Ruth Chapter 2:  “Boaz – A good master”

Song: I am a friend of God

Make a wheat field

Ruth gathered up the corn left behind by the Harvesters. Boaz made sure she was looked after and kept safe.

A “Boaz says” game

We play it exactly the same as “Simon says”, but instead you think of things that Boaz might say (and not say)!
Examples of things Boaz would say: “Boaz says: eat some food”, “Boaz says: have a rest”, “Boaz says: pick up some corn”, “Boaz says: stay in my field”
Example of things Boaz wouldn’t say: “Get out of my field”, “That’s my food”, “The water has all gone”, “Give it to me”.

Something to talk about …

  1. Sometimes things happen that can make us worried or scared. God has placed people around us who can help us at such times: who do you go to, to ask for help?
  2. Boaz was a very kind master who cared for Ruth and Naomi. What are some of the ways he looked after Ruth?
  3. God has promised to care for us all. If God could help you with one thing today, what would it be?

Closing Prayer

Dear God,
Thank you
for my family and friends.

Thank you to all who help us.
Thank you for your love that never ends. Amen
