Trees are important. Trees are vital. As the biggest plants on the planet, they give us oxygen, store carbon, stabilise the soil and give life to the world’s wildlife. They also provide us with the materials for tools and shelter.

Not only are trees essential for life, but as the longest living species on earth, they give us a link between the past, present and future. I love trees and we are fortunate to live in the greenest county in England … full of trees.

My Tree

Birds sing rejoicing in the trees
Green leaves abundant in praise
Waving branches in warm breeze.

Green shoots, the celebrating of bees
Nature’s comeback, all our Mays,
Birds sing rejoicing, in the trees

My tree waiting, watching,
‘Normal’ hovers, lusting for its days;
Waving branches in warm breeze.

Normal’s comeback, yearning to rebreathe
It’s unforgiving, lying ways,
Birds sing rejoicing, in the trees.

My tree looks on as normal will sneeze
Its self made breath and stays
Waving branches in warm breeze.

Our Normal heeds no ‘new’, its deeds
Seep through bark, branch, and preys,
Birds sing rejoicing, in the trees,
Waving branches in warm breeze.
