Thursday 2 April

My dear friend Ross Cobb is Director of Music at St Andrew’s Cathedral, Sydney.  He writes, “The day before churches were shut down in Sydney, we very quickly recorded with (a very reduced and distanced) St Andrew’s Cathedral Choir, this beautiful piece by Philip Stopford: ‘Do not be afraid’.

“The words are very meaningful at this time. More music, including several hymns were also recorded, and we’ll share them shortly. We hope that you find them all helpful during this difficult time.”

But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel:Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;

 I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.
