Monday 6 April

The first song in our Spring Calendar was “Lean On Me”, one of Bill Withers’ best-loved songs, which has become an anthem for our times. Sadly the great Bill Withers died last Friday. What a wonderful legacy he leaves us. Great tunes with great lyrics.

“Lovely Day” is a song inspired by “Lovely people”. Withers wrote the song as a tribute to those lovely and good people who influence others for good. At this strange and difficult time we are aware of many of these lovely people who inspire, encourage and make a real difference in our lives and that of the wider community. Think of the lovely people you know, give thanks for them and wish them a lovely day.  And as you listen give thanks for Bill Withers…  especially as you hear him holding onto a note towards the end for a record-breaking 18 seconds.

Then I look at you
And the world’s alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it’s gonna be
A lovely day
A lovely day
