Martyn Joseph  is a Welsh singer and songwriter whose music blends the  Celtic and folk tradition, while his songwriting is often focused on social lament or protest.

A few years ago Martyn produced a song in honour of the NHS and one of its political founders Nye Bevan. He has in the past few days reissued “Nye” and also a song about the present time “When we get through this”. This is a soundtrack to the moment and conveys a genuine sense of hope.

“Nye” is a real tribute to the vision of a community rooted in mutual responsibility and social welfare. Even in an age when such a vision has been deeply questioned and nearly extinguished by an individualist ideology we are so thankful for the safety net it has given us at this time.
