Can you hear me?
My friend Lesley writes:
“I heard this song for the first time last week. Appropriate for the lockdown but it was produced for Mental Health Awareness Week. At the heart is the plaintive question ‘Can you hear me?’
During lockdown we have discovered that we have many different ways of communicating – but have we learned to listen to each other better? When I went through a mental health crisis some years ago the most helpful conversations I had were with people who listened to me; who tried to enter my world, instead of thinking about what they were going to say next. Can you hear me? Can I hear you?”
The song by Thomas Hewitt Jones is sung by a local choir.
