Woking is home to Britain’s first purpose-built Mosque, and communities from all around the world now live here.  The largest minority community has its roots in Pakistan or Kashmir, and there are at least three other Mosques in Woking.  The Across Project is supported by 12 Woking churches and linked with the national Mahabba network, which encourages ordinary Christians to be friends with ordinary Muslims.

across-strip-1The Project provides training courses and encouragement for the Christian community in Woking, and helps to build bridges of understanding between communities.

The vision of the Project is reflected in the key aims and objectives, which are:

  • To help build bridges of friendship and understanding to our local Asian communities.
  • To help local Christians to appreciate and understand the lifestyles, cultures and faiths of those from other ethnic backgrounds.
  • To train and organise volunteers in a wide range of outreach and serving activities.
  • To share the love of God in both word and deed with those from a different culture and help others to do the same.
  • To see people from all backgrounds become disciples of Jesus Christ and part of His Body, the Church.
