Christmas Eve falls into two parts, so we have two bites of the cherry as far as music is concerned. Remember to come back later for the second piece of music.

To keep us rooted in quiet expectation, Lauridsen’s setting of ‘O Magnum Mysterium’ composed in 1994 is a beautiful setting of a text going back to the 7th century.

Just allow this gorgeous music to flow over you as the words explore the immense contrast of sacred and secular: the great and wonderful mystery of God born as a human being and the fact that He lies in a manger, watched around by animals. Meekness and Majesty indeed.
