Noel Regney and Gloria Shayne (yes, those are their real names!) were inspired to write the Christmas song ‘Do you hear what I hear?’ after watching babies being pushed in prams on the pavements of New York City. Both struggled to perform the song at the time because it was written at a time when the peace of the world was under the threat of a nuclear war. That makes this song even more poignant and necessary.

The gift of the Christ Child comes to us in the in the realities of life, not in some cosy religious and consumer created world. Goodness and Light right here – right where we need it. Listen to Whitney Houston give this song all she’s got.
